The calm before the storm

It's been pretty quiet the last couple of weeks for The Staylyns. We needed a breather since our marathon Spring Break/St. Patrick's Day weekend. We had three great shows that weekend and covered a lot of miles. But we're going to have to put on our rock n' roll stretch pants, because that weekend was just an appetizer for the giant show buffet that's going to be April.

We're probably going to fight over which
one of us gets to wear these on stage at some point.

As of right now, between music bike tours and public shows, we have 11 gigs on the calendar for April. This one goes to 11!

I won't list all the shows here, because then this blog post would just be a list of shows, but you can get the full lineup from our Staylyns Reverbnation page.

I'll admit, it's a little daunting seeing all that looming ahead of us, especially when you consider that my day job is in a really busy season right now. I get tired just thinking about. But it's also really exciting. We've watched our band grow over the last few years, and we can honestly say that things just keep getting better.

While every band harbors the secret hope of some sort of incredible, life-changing success (a hit song, viral video, etc.), the truth is, if you can call yourself a working band, and you get to the point where your band generates actual income that makes a difference in your life, that's success. You've made it a lot farther than most bands. So, while we continue to dream about extraordinary opportunities, we can truly say we're enjoying where we are and are proud of our success and our music.

It's also kind of a hoot when you get mobbed by a bunch of kids for autographs. Here was our merch table in Kemah a couple of weeks ago just before our show started:

Here's the table after our show:

You're just seeing four kids in this shot, but there were several others there, all asking for us to sign things, before I thought to grab my camera. You'll notice that at this point, the drums are already off stage in the background, so this was going on the whole time we were loading off the stage. It was pretty cool.

Yes, I just did that. And it's in your brain now. You won't be able to say something is "pretty cool" anymore without hearing that. Mwuhahahaha!
