Holiday gigs and a new rig

Well, they're here - the holidays! A lot of people think of "the holidays" as Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I like to think it starts with Halloween and ends with New Years Day. That means we've been in full-on holiday mode for at least two weeks. And now that I think about it, I haven't had anything pumpkin-flavored yet, so I'm dropping the ball.

For the band, this time of year often means a shift in our gigs. Some of regular gigs get booted, either for weather or because the venues we play are hosting private parties. But we also usually end up playing a party or two ourselves, so it all works out.

This year, we've got a few party gig possibilities, but we're most excited about the show we'll be playing New Years Eve. We've been hired to play at the new Culinary Dropout in Tucson, Arizona - ROAD TRIP!!

We bought a new RV this summer to make road-tripping more comfortable, and we've been using her for gigs for a couple of months now. But we knew from the start that a few modifications would be needed to accommodate both the band members and all of our gear for overnight gigs. So now that we have one of those on the calendar, Johnny has been working diligently to get those mods made.

For those who haven't seen the new rig yet, meet Trudy:

Trudy is a bad-ass. We have already visited 8 states with her, and Johnny officially branded her with a giant Staylyns sticker on her back window last week. So, you'll know it's us if you see us rolling down the highway.

Our task now is to finish up the modifications inside for the band gear, and we'll be ready to rock Tucson on New Years Eve!

As a quick follow-up to my last post, we haven't succeeded in playing music *every* day, but we've definitely been playing more and have even written some new material, so the project is a success even if we haven't hit all of our marks. We've got a busy December coming up, so we'll have lots of opportunity to keep our music muscles all limbered up!

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving, and if you feel so inclined, come see us at one of our upcoming shows. As always, you can find our calendar of shows, as well as listen to our music, at www.TheStaylyns.com.
