Exposure is a good thing

Boy, when things start improving, they really improve! When I last left you, Johnny was on the mend and we'd had a lovely lakeside gig to get things moving in the right direction again. In the week since then, things have only gotten better!

On Tuesday, July 24, we were notified by Reverbnation (see my Reverbnation review if you're not sure who/what that is) that The Staylyns would be one the site's 10 featured bands on their home page for the following week - EXCITING!! In case you're not sure what the big deal is, RN has nearly 2.5 million artists, and they get 25 million visitors per month, so to be selected among all of those artists for that kind of exposure is just phenomenal. We're so very grateful! Here's a photo of us in the primo spot on their home page:

As a result of the prime positioning, we now have a bunch of new fans on both Reverbnation and Facebook (You know we're on Facebook, right? If you haven't already, friend us! It's really, really fun...like amusement park fun...seriously...), and we are currently ranked #4 on RN's Austin Americana chart and #97 on the global Americana chart. Soooo awesome!

We got confirmation that our new fans are warranted by a guy at our Friday night show at Latitude 30 in downtown Austin. At the end of our show, the guy came up and asked Johnny if the last song in our set, Very Next Disco, was on our CD. Johnny said it was, and he said, "That's a great song, man! Your covers suck, but that song rocks." Thanks, man. You're sweet. You look like a drunk monkey in a thrift store dressed you, but you're sweet.

To build on all that fantastic good news, CD Baby then announced they are running a promotion this week to give their artists 100 percent of the sales price of their merchandise - yayuh! So, if you haven't bought our new CD, Sex & Coffee, this is the perfect week to buy! Get the whole CD or just your favorite tracks, and the band will benefit from every dollar you spend.

Just so you know, Sex & Coffee is also available on iTunes and Amazon, but we get a bigger piece of the pie if you buy on CD Baby, especially this week, so we kind of consider that its "home." But we will not turn our noses up at any purchase. Why we even take cash when someone offers it - we're just that flexible.

So, we're a little bit more famous than we were a week ago, but I promise we haven't let it go to our heads. We're still the same, lovable three-piece you've always known. No bodyguards or "people" you have to go through to talk to us at a show, and we'll still shake your hand. I'll bet Joe would even let you tousle his hair if you're gentle and you smell good.

So, come out and rock with us! We'll be at Junior's Ice House in Round Rock this Friday, August 3, from 9:30-11:30pm. Come see us quick before we get really famous and start whining about what a pain it is to be millionaires! (Note to self: Never whine about that.)

  1. Very, very proud of the Staylyns (even if I am a little prejudiced). They are writing new songs and sound better and better...if possible. If you haven't seen them, you are missing out.
