Back on track

It appears our luck is finally back on the upswing. Johnny's ankle is improving; he has replaced his old, dead phone with a long-desired iPhone; and we had two really great shows this past weekend.

The first of the two shows was a Friday afternoon electric bike rock n' roll tour. I think there may be a song in that name. It sounds kind of Beatles-esque, circa 1967. But I digress. The gyst of the gig is that Joe and Johnny took a group of five guys on a tour of the city, sightseeing the city's iconic rock 'n roll sights (like the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue and Victory Grill), atop Pedego electric bikes from our most favoritist electric bike shop, Rocket Electrics.

After cruisin' the sights and, no doubt, charmin' the bejeezus out of their charges, the boys then entertained them with a short rooftop concert with a skyline view:

I, Suzy, she of the bass playing and singing, was not able to participate this time, but I very much look forward to getting in on the Pedego action next time. The boys said it was a lot of fun. We've been told that if we really want to impress people, we should give the concert WHILE riding. I say that if you give us enough money, we will try just about anything. So...make us an offer. Then get ready for an unreasonable counter.

After that cool hang on Friday, we were off to Lake Whitney for our second appearance at the White Bluff Resort. Man, we like this place! Once again, we played with a lake view on the Lighthouse Restaurant deck. Here's Joe's view from behind the drums, looking out toward the sunset:

Last time, we had to fight the wind blowing our hair into our mouths. This time the wind cooperated, but we did seem to be popular with bugs:

I came very close to freaking out when a tiny grasshopper landed on my chest in the middle of a song. But I didn't. Because I'm a professional.

Luckily, we also did very well with the non-bug, human audience as well. We kept a full house until the very end and even had several people begging us to keep going. We might have considered it for the right price, but believe it or not, rain clouds had moved in (come ON!), so we couldn't risk it. In fact, it started misting as we were packing up, so it was good that we stopped when we did. I do feel that I should give props to our super-duper fan this show, though - Ben, The Dance Machine:

Note the Staylyns sticker placed front and center on his shirt. The boy is representin'.  I don't know what was going on with the Home Alone face. He's too young to know that movie, right? But we let our fans be who they are. Kinda like Lady Gaga, but we won't call you monsters.

So, all in all, a great weekend. Songs were sung, CDs were sold, phones were purchased and our mojo was restored.

Thangod.
