It's still January, though, so it still counts as a new year post.
Oh, I will, Chuck Norris. I will. |
So, when we book gigs in January, we hope for the "unseasonably warm" days OR a back-up space indoors. Junior's has a back-up indoor space, which is where we played earlier this month:

The Pleasure Pier also has no back-up indoor space, and the Pier doesn't care if it's cold, as long as it's not raining. They're die-hards for fun, y'all! So, we're banking on the weather cooperating.
We played there in December, and it was cold, but it stayed rainless through our first set. Being both the weenie about cold AND the problem solver that I am, I created my own little heated green room on our break:
But in the second set, the rain started. The Pier staff said we could pack it in, but Johnny's parents were visiting from Utah, and they had just arrived at the show, so we continued to play for them as long as we could. Daddio was able to grab a little footage of us in action:
This Saturday, the forecast is calling for temps in the 50s, but a 0% chance of rain, so we're confident the show will go on, and we're looking forward to playing a full show. We'll be playing 4:00-8:00pm, so if you happen to be enjoying lovely Galveston Island this weekend, come rock with us Saturday!
We've got a lot of good stuff already on the books for this year, as well as a few irons in the fire for some new venues/events, so if you'd like to keep up with where we're playing and when, please check out our Reverbnation page, and sign up for our email list. We send an eblast every month telling where we're playing that month, so WE bring our schedule to YOU! IT'S GENIUS!!
I get to sleep on my way to this one!
